Susy O. Cabrejos
piano, guitar
I was born and raised in Peru, South America. My interest in music began when I was 9 years old and music class was introduced to me at the school I was attending. That’s when my musical journey started as I continue with music as I learned to play the piano.
I came to the USA when I was 17 and started attending college pursuing a degree in science. However, at the same time, I begin to take several music classes at college too, like Music Theory, Music History, Ear Training, Piano, Voice and performed at the college band and choir. I earned my Associates degree in Fine Arts in Music in 2010 at Elgin Community College. Also, I began to perform with different musicians and play in some local gigs.
I am a multi-instrumentalist, I play piano, guitar, bass, drums, and ukulele and I also like to sing. However, my main instruments are piano, guitar, and voice. I have over 10 years of experience teaching music to students of all ages. I like to use different methods according to the student's needs. I also like to group intermediate level students in small group ensembles for performances at our recitals. I hold 2 recitals a year so students can show their hard work.
Also, working several years at Guitar Center helped me gain a broad knowledge of music gear and audio equipment.
I graduated from college in 2013. I hold a Bachelor's on Biological Science from Roosevelt University with a minor in Chemistry.
It's amazing how our brain can absorb information in different ways. We can be learning something unintentionally. So whichever our circumstances are, we should be open to learn or improve our skills every day. Remember, the process of learning never ends!
